At Kneaded Energy, our therapists are professionally trained, state licensed and nationally certified.

A massage therapist at Kneaded Energy receives more actual, hands on, on-the-job training in the first 1000 hours of employment than most therapists receive during their entire career.  This statement is based on the sheer volume of clients we serve.  Throughout each day, each therapist is exposed to many different aspects, requests, and experiences of massage, expanding their knowledge and experience level, far beyond what most private practices or spa services experience in massage therapy. With the help of our office manager, each therapist determines the maximum number of clients they want to work with throughout the day.

Kneaded Energy has invested in a library of training manuals, videos and dvds that are at the disposal of each therapist.  The state of North Carolina requires licensed therapists to take additional continuing education classes each year.  Kneaded Energy's compensation package allows each therapist to earn  their continuing education credits, to be paid by Kneaded Energy.  Once a therapist attends training, they are encouraged and required to share this information with all the staff, ensuring cross training in an array of many different modalities.

We follow strict NC practice law with regard to inquiring into the health history of our client, obtaining written permission and informed consent from the client, each time they visit our facility.

Our Vision
We are dedicated to making you feel good.

Our Mission Statement
To be the model for massage therapy practices worldwide.  Kneaded Energy will listen and respond to the client's needs, while providing an environment that allows growth for the therapist.

Kneaded Energy invests in
their clients.
We pride ourselves, at Kneaded Energy that each client has chosen us to be their massage therapist. Our primary focus, at Kneaded Energy, is on how you want to feel after the massage.  Our wish is that you have a positive experience and a welcomed change within your comfort level.  We also hope that with our therapists  that you experience - hospitality, professionalism, and competency.  You, the client, are the reason we are here and we value you.  Thank you for choosing us.  We realize you have many choices about where you go to receive massage and we always want your decision to be: Kneaded Energy.

Kneaded Energy invests in
their therapists.
At Kneaded Energy we pay our therapists whether they perform massage or not.  This is typically unheard of in the massage industry.  Most salons, practices and spas pay the therapist a commission, soley based on the actual massages performed.  Those same therapists may sit for 40 hours a week, perform no massages and not get paid a dime for their time and commitment.  Not at Kneaded Energy.  We promise our therapist's will get paid an hourly fee PLUS commission for each massage performed.  This is our promise to our therapists that even in the slow cyclical or economic times, they will be paid.  This allows them to plan their lives, their families, their mortgages and their future.  Paying time + commission for massage also rewards the therapist who earns the trust and loyalty of the clients with repeat business.  Our compensation package also allows our therapists to earn paid time-off, that can be used for vacations, planned mental health days or in case of illness.  Our therapists can earn free massage for themselves, and can also earn paid continuing education credits throughout the year.

 Kneaded Energy invests in
their treatment room environment.

Our clients enjoy a comfortable sofa and are soothed by soft music and our renowned zen water feature.  We honor an odor neutral environment that allows each client to enter our environment, without discomfort.  Each oversized, private treatment room at Kneaded Energy is outfitted with the industry's most reputable massage tables.  These tables are structurally built for endurance, withstanding up to 750 pounds.  Each table is outfitted with fleece pads and table warmers for extra comfort.  At the clients request, these table warmers can be turned up or off.  Each room is equipped with freshly laundered linens that are replaced between each session, fleece blankets, bolsters and pillows - all intended to provide comfort for the client.  Each room is equipped with a sound machine eliminating outside noise, traffic, and hallway conversations.  The music in each treatment room is chosen by the therapist.  Kneaded Energy has a library of audio recordings for your choosing.  Each treatment room is furnished with visual aids and anatomy charts to assist the therapist in discussing your specific needs and treatment plans.  The mirrors are strategically placed in each treatment room for the safety and privacy of the clients.  Our top sheets are queen sized and doubled over for our clients' descretion.  And finally, each treatment room is expertly cleaned and sanitary.    Our client's enjoy comlimentary water (in corn biodegradeable cups) after each massage to aid in rehydration and filtering of toxins from the body.

 Kneaded Energy invests in
sustainable practices.
1) Oil is an essential item in our industry.  After hours of research, we settled on using a high quality, unscented, fractionated coconut oil for each massage.  This oil allows for ease in laundering our linens and makes very little impact on the environment.  All oils and lotions are absorbed by the skin and processed throughout the body.  The product we use, all day long, day in and day out, is extremely important to us and to the health of our bodies.  We choose the best for us, and as a result, choose the best for our clients.  Fractionated coconut oil is our oil of choice.
2) We utilize ozone lights in some of our treatments rooms and ozone air purifiers in the restrooms.  Ozone helps to kill bacteria and germs.
3) Our offices, restrooms, lobby and common areas are professionally cleaned with environmentally safe, non-toxic, essential oils.
4) Kneaded Energy, and all the State Street Center practioners, recycle.  We have a recycling container located in the kitchen area.

Kneaded Energy invests in
the community.

Kneaded Energy enthusiatically invests in the community each year volunteering massage services at local community events.  We have partnered with Moses Cone to provide massage services in mass at the Women's Only 5K for the past 6 years.  We also provide one free massage, and subsequent discounted massage to anyone undergoing cancer treatment.  We volunteer countless hours each year at the various campuses to provide free massage to the employees, nurses and doctors of Moses Cone Health Care System.  For the non-profit sector, Kneaded Energy has provided free massage to all the participants of the Human Race and the Heart Walk, assisting them in raising funds for their organizations.  Kneaded Energy has donated time and massage to WFDD fundraisers, to organizations such as Gateway Education Center, the Children's Art Museum, Junior League outreach, American Red Cross, The Volunteer Center and the United Way Kick-Off.  Each year Kneaded Energy donates time to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, Pet Adoption Fair, held on State Street.  Kneaded Energy has actively worked to make non-profit organizations aware of grant funding available for massage therapy and quotes a reduced rate for any organization willing to submit an application for this grant funding.  In 2004, Bill and Shelley were selected from a pool of 500+ massage applicants to provide massage therapy at the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Greece.  This honor was all volunteered time and all expenses were paid by the volunteers.

Despite the fact that we pride ourselves in "Growing Good Therapists" we undoubtedly loose good therapists from time to time.  According to the ABMP organization (Associated Bodyworkers and Massage Therapy Professionals) there is a large attrition rate in the massage therapy industry, that has also certainly affected Kneaded Energy and the length of employment with some of our therapists.  ABMP estimates that "some 50,000 massage therapists leave the profession each year."  Three primary factors are documented to drive this pattern: 1) some massage professionals indicate it is because of insufficient economic reward, finding it difficult to reconcile their sense of higher purpose with the more mundane aspects of repetitive tasks, 2) the physical demands of the profession can become daunting and may limit the number of clients a pracitioner can manage on a daily basis, and 3) lifestyle changes, peak hours, weekend work and inappropriateness of clients all affect the life and longevity of practitioners.

Kneaded Energy Guarantee
If you believe you didn't get the high quality massage experience you anticipated and expected from Kneaded Energy, then the massage is on us.
